    Part A: The plan of action chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the year towards quality enhancement and the outcome achieved by the end of the year.

    Alumni is supporting in placement activities, placement cell is functioning in the college.

    Lot of challenges incorporated in the courses, new paper on cultural heritage of India is introduced, syllabus are modified.

    Many students are guided to apply for scholarships and educational loans from banks.

    1.Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution: Organising and conducting educational activities Giving priorities to the poor and rural boys and girls in admission Providing self improvement programmes to the students Helping them in providing opportunities for employment etc.

    2. New academic programmes initiated (UG and PG): BBA, B.Com

    3. Innovations in curricular design and transaction: On the job training and field exposure is strengthened. Discussion with field experts is increased.

    4. Inter – disciplinary programmes started: Optional course introduced Computer training introduced to the non computer students.

    5. Examination reforms implemented: Separate Exam cell created to look after examinations. Computerization of Examination cell is planned.

    7. Initiative towards faculty development programme: The faculty meeting is being organized every week. Discussions held among the staff about the difficulties and inadequacies experienced by the faculties. Suggestion exchanged to overcome difficulties. Staffs are motivated to attend seminars and conferences to broaden their knowledge in the subject.

    8. Total number of seminars / workshops conducted: Workshop conducted – one day workshop conducted for BSNL staff on NICP. Seminar organized for HR specialization students.

    18. Community services: NSS programme and its services in the villages, such as literacy classes, tree planting, cleaning the bushes, nutrition education, blood donation camps etc., were organized in the near by villages. College had initiated Education For Life project in Kallanthiri Village. Also organized cycle rally in the city to create awareness about traffic rules. Faculties are resource persons for different training programmes organized by other institutions. As a resource person they contribute in capacity building and providing guidance to the development projects.

    23. Courses in which student assessment of teacher is introduced and the action taken on student feedback: Suggestion box are installed. Students demands are being fulfilled. Annual feedback from students are received and discussed in the staff meeting to improve the quality.

    24. Unit cost of education: Approximately Rs. 4000 to 7000 per semester.

    25. Computerization of administration and the process of admissions and examination results, issue of certificates: Computerization of files, documents, leaves etc., are being done. After the Autonomous status achieved the new software will be installed to monitor examination, admission, class room management etc.,

    26. Increase in the infrastructural facilities: New building is planned to be constructed i.e. class rooms and boy’s hostel.

    27. Technology upgradation: E – teaching introduced. Website address for reference materials collected and introduced in the library.

    28. Computer and internet access and training to teachers and students: Computer and internet facility is provided to the faculty and student. In the evening from 4 pm to 8 pm also the internet facility is made available to the student.

    29. Financial aid to students: All the eligible students are motivated to get scholarship. Steps are also taken to get bank loan for educational purposes. Support for part time, contract employment.

    30. Support from the Alumni Association and its activities: Alumni support is being regularly mobilized for various educational purposes. Leading Alumni who are highly placed and are working in reputed organization are brought to the campus for interaction purposes. Alumni are contributing books, sponsors and conduct seminars and conferences to provide exposure opportunities to the students. Alumni are supporting in job placement. Every year the members of Alumni Association meets on October 2nd.

    31. Support from the Parent – Teacher Association and its activities: Parent Teacher Association meeting is conducted once in a year, particularly in the beginning of the academic year. They also participate in other programmes and celebrations. Parents informed about the students progress towards the end of each semester.

    32. Health services: Health cheek up for student is organized once in a year. During the time of ill health, especially to the hostel students, the doctors are invited to visit college hostel and treat them. If necessary they are taken to the near by hospital for treatment of severe illness.

    33. Performance in sports activities: Sports facilities are created in the campus. Since there is a limited play facilities, the nearby Govt. Sports Stadium authorities are approached and made agreement to use play field for our students.

    34. Incentives to outstanding sportspersons: Students are motivated to get trained in sports and games field. They are given leave to attend various competitions.

    1. S. Chandran of III B.Com (CA) got IInd prize in Slogan writing competition, conducted by Koodu Pengal Amaipu.

    2. B. Ushanandhini of III B.Sc (CS) got Ist prize in Essay writing competition conducted by Koodu Pengal Amaipu.

    3. B. Ushanandhini of III B.Sc (CS) got 5th place and Rs.2000/- Cash Award in the State Level Essay competition, which was conducted by Vivekanandha Kendra.

    4. B. Ushanandhini of III B.Sc (CS) got Ist prize in Essay writing on “Female Infenticide”.

    5. The following students participated in the Elocution Contest on Bharathiar, conducted by Sri Ram Chit Funds.

    6. Chellapandi of II MSW got IInd place in Poetry Verse writing organized by Tamilnadu Fuel Energy Organization.

    36. Activities of the Guidance and Counselling Cell: Guidance and counseling is already working in the campus. The problem students are given counselling. The Social Work faculties of Medical and Psychiatric Department is taking up this responsibility.

    37. Placement services provided to students: Placement cell is functioning effectively. It is organizing campus interview for placement. It also publishes the profile of the passed out students annually. It is preparing alumni profile to promote placement opportunity for students.

    38. Development programmes for non-teaching staff:

    2. Program on interpersonal relationship is organized.

    39. Best practices of the institution:

    1. MISS has initiated a Health Awareness Centre in the campus to promote awareness among the public. The students are motivated to serve the society through this centre. This opportunity provides students a sense of social responsibility. We have started an organic canteen with traditional food facility.

    2. Students are given individuals guidance with the help of AAA schedule.

Attended the National Level Seminar at Annamalai University, Chidambaram during 26th to 27th March 2009 and presented a paper on “TQM in college library during Digital Era” R. Ramaprasath Asst. Librarian (SF) Got M.Phil Degree in Library and Information Science from Madurai Kamaraj University. Co-authored with the paper on “TQM in college library during Digital Era” submitted in the National Seminar at Annamalai University, Chidambaram.
